We had a great turnout for the Boy Scout Outing. Thanks to RD Round for arranging this outing for the boys. Thanks to Brandon and Linda Foss, Ben and Paula Crain, Lonnie Taylor, Randy Mingus, Mike Masker, Ilene Lewis, and RD for coming to help.

A special thanks to Sally and Henry Kichelmann for coming to give a talk on the history of Pinon, Colorado. I thought I was taping the whole talk. Found out halfway through I had pushed the wrong button so there is only half of the talk.

Elections will be held at the September 21 meeting. This is your club. Come and be involved!!

At the Meeting

Birthdays for August are Judy, Deb, and Rob G. Happy Birthday!!!

The monthly nugget was won by Ben. Congratulations!!

We received an email from Wapiyapi stating that the camp for 2018 would be moving from Estes Park to Woodland Park.

It was stated that BLM Officer Moe now has an assistant and will be able to cover more territory.

Utah mounted an RS 2477 challenge against the BLM disputing the closure  12,000 miles of public routes. The Utah Supreme Court ruled against the BLM stating these roads are to be kept open. This ruling should affect all of the western states in the future.

RD stated that the date for the Boy Scouts demonstration will be September 16 at the Backbreaker. There will be 18 boys and parents. We need volunteers help show these kids how to pan.

Ilene read a letter from Camp Wapiyapi thanking us for our donation of $1,827.13. A copy of the letter is in the Wapiyapi page.

Calvin read a letter from the City of Delta thanking us for participating in the Delta Heritage Days. Letter and photos are in the Photo Gallery

We have a new nugget board. The squares are $3.00 each.

Officer elections will be held during the September meeting. All positions are open for election. If you are interested in a position, please let us know. This is a very important meeting for the club. All officers must be a Member In Good Standing (MIGS) card carrier. You must be a GPAA member to be eligible to vote. Please attend!!

Summer prospecting photos are in the Photo Gallery. If you have more, send them to Ilene and they will be posted to the website.
